We are living through unprecedented times. COVID-19 is changing how we interact with people and what we can expect from 2020. In these times, it is more important than ever to look after ourselves, to stay connected with family and friends and to stay informed.
In this climate, AASYP will approach 2020 differently. Whilst we will continue bringing together young Southeast Asians and Australians to build knowledge, inspire engagement and create connections, we will do so in some new and different ways.
With that in mind, some key changes to AASYP’s operations in 2020 include:
- The cancellation of ASEAN-Australia Young Leaders Forum (AAYLF). The inaugural Forum in 2019 was very special, but we are not confident we can deliver the same high-quality in-person experience in 2020. Keep an eye out for AAYLF 2021 – it will be our best Forum yet!
- The creation of a new Digital Events team. This team will deliver a program of high-quality and engaging workshops and social events. We hope our digital academic events will develop your knowledge of ASEAN-Australia relations, or at the very least, provide you relief from the challenges of COVID-19. We also hope our digital social events connect you with new friends from across the region.
- A series of publications exploring how young people have experienced COVID-19 throughout Australia and Southeast Asia. Our publications team will draw attention to how young people have been disproportionately affected. We want to showcase your stories.
