AAYLF 2019

The ASEAN-Australia Young Leaders Forum 2019 is composed of three stages: the pre-forum coursework, the forum, and the post-forum Strategic Young Leader role. This format has been chosen to ensure delegates have the greatest opportunity possible to maximise their learning, foster new networks and develop their conceptual ideas into tangible actions that strengthen the relationship between ASEAN and Australia.

It is the ultimate goal of AAYLF to equip young leaders from across Australia and ASEAN with the skills, tools and expertise required to be passionate advocates and agents of change, who are empowered to shape the future of the region.

2019 tHEMES

Digital Economy

ASEAN is one of the fastest growing and innovative digital markets, boasting multiple start-up unicorn companies while Australia has advanced technology companies and entrepreneurship programmes.

How can we best utilize these economic hubs and opportunities for the development of e-commerce to further integrate digital economy entrepreneurship between Australia and ASEAN?

Disaster Resilience

Southeast Asia is one of the most disaster prone regions in the world, having significant human cost on communities impacted.

In the aftermath of disasters, it is the vulnerable member of society that experience the greatest hardships to recover. Combined with increasing clime threats, disasters are one of the regions most pressing issues.

How can we utilize technology advances and regional cooperation to drive innovative solutions for effective disaster resilience?

Violent extremism remains a complex threat to our security. Tackling radicalisation is not only a policy issue, but an issue that youth can be at the forefront of addressing in their own communities.
